Rams Receive One Commitment; Add Two to Spring Camp Roster

REGINA, Sask. - University of Regina Rams head coach Frank McCrystal announced Wednesday that the team has received a commitment from Brenden Bennett, an offensive lineman from Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks, Alta. Bennett will attend the U of R beginning in the fall of 2007.

McCrystal also announced that two top local prospects will be attending the Rams' spring camp this weekend. Running back Taylor Kidby and receiver Kolten Solomon will both go through the paces with the rest of the Rams.

Listed at 6'1" and 269 lbs., Bennett will graduate in June from Foothills Composite. Though he was primarily a centre for the Falcons, he also saw duty as a defensive tackle. Foothills ended the season as the No. 1-ranked team in Alberta's Tier II and lived up to that billing
in the playoffs, defeating Archbishop Jordan 42-6 to claim the Alberta Schools Athletic Association's Tier II championship.

Kidby is a 5'9", 170 lb. running back out of Riffel High School. His Royals made it to the city championships last season, where they were defeated by Sheldon-Williams. After defeating Riffel, Sheldon-Williams went on to defeat Saskatoon's Hardy Collegiate to claim the Saskatchewan '4A' high school championship. One of the Spartans' key players was Solomon, a 5'10", 160 lb. receiver and safety. Both Kidby and Solomon were named 2006 Regina Intercollegiate Football League all-stars. Solomon was actually a dual winner of the award, being named to the all-star team at both the safety and wide receiver positions.

Spring camp is scheduled for April 27-29 at the Rams' practice facility located on the U of R campus. The Rams will not be holding a pre-camp press conference, but will provide an on-site interview area and access to the players and coaches before and after practices.
