QUICKLY

  • Regina has an all-time record of 3-5 in season openers, but hasn't won its first game of the season since 2002 (15-10 home win over UBC).

  • Saturday's game will mark the eighth time in the Rams' nine-year CIS history that the team has opened up its Canada West regular season at home. The only time Regina began its season on the road was in 2005 at Saskatchewan.

  • Manitoba hasn't lost a regular season game since being edged 18-17 by Saskatchewan on Oct. 15, 2005. The Bisons have won nine consecutive Canada West games since then.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: MANITOBA AND REGINA

The Rams and the Bisons met three times during the 2006 season, battling twice in the regular season and again in a Canada West semifinal. The Bisons took all three games, defeating the Rams 34-24 in Regina during Week 1, 49-44 in Winnipeg during Week 8, and 44-29 in the playoffs. These two teams have met 16 times since the Rams joined the CIS in 1999, with Manitoba holding a 10-3 edge in the regular season and a 2-1 advantage in the playoffs. The last time Regina defeated the Bisons was in 2005, when they scored a 30-27 victory in a game that was sent into overtime by a last-minute 49-yard field goal by Perri Scarcelli.
