victory
Monday, November 05, 2007
Special Teams: Perri Scarcelli, Regina
Regina kicker Perri Scarcelli was perfect on Friday night,
hitting all four of his field goal attempts in a 19-13 win over
Saskatchewan in a Canada West semifinal game.
Scarcelli hit field goals from 22, 19, 17, and 37 yards and
also connected on his only point-after attempt. He also had six
punts, pinning the Huskies inside their own 20-yard line on
three of them. His four field goals set a team record for most
in a single playoff game.
Offence: Scott McHenry, Saskatchewan
Third-year player Scott McHenry was valuable in keeping the
Saskatchewan Huskies close to winning in a 19-13 loss Friday
against the Regina Rams.
The Arts and Science student made six catches on the game for
108-yards. His longest catch was a 29 yarder. He also helped
keep the Huskies alive on third downs, becoming the go to man
at that point. McHenry is from Saskatoon and a graduate of the
strong Holy Cross Crusaders football program.
Defence: Stan Van Sichem, Regina
Regina defensive end Stan Van Sichem was a terror on the
defensive line for the Rams during their 19-13 semifinal win
over Saskatchewan on Friday night, registering a total of four
sacks and forcing one fumble.
Three of Van Sichem’s four sacks came in the second quarter
alone, helping the Rams hold the Huskies to just three points
heading into halftime. One of his sacks on Saskatchewan
quarterback Laurence Nixon resulted in a fumble, which was
recovered by linebacker Mat Nesbitt and led to a field goal
that tied the game at three.
Van Sichem’s four sacks added up to a total loss of 30 yards.
