Six Rams Named to Canada West
All-Star Team
EDMONTON, Alta. - Canada West announced Friday that six members
of the University of Regina Rams have been named conference
all-stars as the postseason accolades continue to roll in for the
team after their school-record six-win regular season.
Quarterback Teale Orban, who led the CIS with 22 touchdown passes
during the regular season, earned his second consecutive nod as a
conference all-star. Earning their first Canada West all-star
awards were fourth-year slotback Chad Goldie and third-year
offensive guard Brendon LaBatte.
Three Rams also earned all-star berths on the defensive side of
the ball, including linebackers Steve Wilson and Mat Nesbitt and
defensive tackle Paul McDill. It's the first time that Nesbitt
and McDill have been named a Canada West all-star, while Wilson
joins Jason Clermont, Todd Krenbrink, and Jeff Zimmer as the only
Rams to earn conference all-star status in three consecutive
seasons.
2003 was the only other year that the Rams have had six Canada
West all-stars in a single season.
