Orban Named Canada West Offensive
Player of the Week
EDMONTON, Alta. - Canada West announced Monday that University of
Regina Rams quarterback Teale Orban has been named its Offensive
Player
of the Week after Orban’s performance in the Rams’ 37-24 win over
Simon Fraser this weekend.
The Rams (3-1) scored five touchdowns in the win over Simon
Fraser,
with Orban figuring in each major. He threw four touchdown passes
to
four different Regina receivers and added a nine-yard touchdown
run
midway through the fourth quarter.
Orban ended up completing 22 of his 35 pass attempts against the
Clan
and piled up 254 passing yards.
Orban’s four touchdown passes give him 54 for his career, and he
currently sits in seventh place on the Canada West all-time list.
He’s
closing in on Greg Vavra, a former Calgary Dino who has the
all-time
lead with 63 career touchdown passes.
The Rams have now produced at least one Canada West weekly award
winner
in each of their past three games. Last week, both Jordan Sisco
(offence) and Steve Wilson (defence) were honoured by the
conference,
while Chad Goldie (offence) earned recognition after the Alberta
game on
Sept. 8.
The Rams return to Regina this weekend for a home game against
Calgary
(1-3). Game time is 3 p.m. on Saturday at Mosaic Stadium.
