Canada West Honours Goldie
Monday September 10th, 2007

Canada West announced Monday that University of Regina Rams fourth-year slotback Chad Goldie has been named its Offensive Player of the Week after his record-setting performance against Alberta over the weekend.

Goldie, who hails from Sexsmith, Alta., set a Canada West single-game record with 15 receptions on Saturday while helping the Rams to a 24-22 victory. The old conference record of 13 was set by Alberta's Gord Bolstad in 1983 and was matched in 1994 by UBC's Andrew English.

Goldie's offensive totals included a 23-yard touchdown catch and a career-high total of 146 receiving yards. Two games into the 2007 season, he leads Canada West with 206 receiving yards and is atop the entire CIS with 21 receptions.

The award is the first individual honour for University of Regina athletes this season.

The other Canada West weekly football awards went to Manitoba's Bob Reist (defensive) and Calgary's Anthony Parker (special teams).

The Rams (1-1) will enjoy a bye week before returning to action on Sept. 21 against the UBC Thunderbirds (1-1) at Mosaic Stadium.
