Roughriders Re-sign
Chris Getzlaf
Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager/Vice President of
Football Operations Eric Tillman announced today that wide
receiver Chris Getzlaf has re-signed with the team. Financial
details of the contract were not released.
Getzlaf (6’0 * 208 lbs) was acquired by the Riders along with
Corey Holmes midway through last season from the Hamilton
Tiger-Cats. The 25-year old spent two games on the Riders
four-man reserve list and spent the remainder of the season on
the injured roster. Getzlaf was originally drafted by Hamilton
in the fifth round (33rd overall) in the 2007 Canadian Draft.
“Chris is a talented, hard-working young man with a bright
future,”
stated Tillman. “He is everything we had hoped for when we made
the deal with Hamilton last year and with his work ethic, we
believe he will develop into a starting receiver in a couple of
years.”
Prior to entering the CFL, Getzlaf played two seasons with the
University of Regina Rams. In 16 career games he had 73
receptions for 1,286 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Regina native
was also named a first team All-Canadian and a Canada West
All-Star.
