Three Rams prepare for 2008 East West Bowl

HAMILTON, Ont. - Three current University of Regina Rams players will participate in this weekend’s East West Bowl, which showcases CIS players eligible for the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft.

All three Rams at the game - linebacker Brandon Ganne, defensive back Tamon George, and defensive end Stan Van Sichem - will be on the defensive side of the ball for the West team. Ganne and Van Sichem will enter their fourth season of CIS eligibility next year, while George will be a third-year player in 2008.

The East squad is comprised of student-athletes representing institutions from the Atlantic and Quebec conferences in addition to Ottawa, Queen’s, York, and Toronto. The West squad features players from universities west of the Greater Toronto Area. Each school is represented by a minimum of three and a maximum of four players.

The game will take place at McMaster University’s Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. EDT and will be webcast live by the Streaming Sports Network at www.ssncanada.ca.

NOTES: The West team has dominated the bowl, winning each of the first five editions of the annual game * two of the Rams’ representatives from the 2007 game (Brendon LaBatte and Teale Orban) were selected in last week’s CFL draft * the players arrived in Hamilton on Monday and will have testing and practices throughout the week.
