Scarcelli named Canada West Special Teams Player of the Week

University of Regina Rams kicker Perri Scarcelli was named the Canada West Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after hitting all four of his field goal attempts and scoring 14 points in the Rams 28-17 Saturday afternoon win over UBC.

Scarcelli's four field goals equalled a career high, as the fifth-year kicker hit from 28, 16, 29, and 38 yards out. All four of his field goals came in the first two quarters, and Scarcelli was also
successful on two point-after attempts.

He also punted eight times for an average of 43.1 yards and pinned the Thunderbirds inside their own 20-yard line on four occasions.

Scarcelli is climbing up the Canada West all-time statistics in several categories. His 265 career points rank fourth in conference history, while he sits eighth with 48 field goals made. He is ranks No. 2 in the conference record book in both career punts (304) and attempted field goals (78) and No. 4 in field goal percentage (61.5%).

The award is the second of Scarcelli's career, as he was also named the Canada West Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 11, 2005. That award also came following a road win at UBC in which Scarcelli hit four field goals.

The Rams will enjoy a bye week before hitting the field again with a home game against Simon Fraser on Friday, Oct. 9.
